I do agree with you, but listening and understanding is usually much harder for the Ukrainians and those who come from postsoviet territories because of the difference in prononcuation between natives and us. and of course the temp of speaking is also important. that's why we need to put more efforts to make our listening practice better. maybe that is the point of what Guffy tried to explain

In my humble opinion, modern textbooks using in general schools (without in-depth study of English) are so... poor. I know, I'm not a member of Ministry of Education, and I havn't written my own textbook... But I'm just a little girl who wants to learn English. :unsure:

То, что оно с гласными не "не ставится", а ставится в другой форме, я знал в первом классе, а ты хвастаешься этим великим знанием в свои великовозрастные года. Я об этом даже говорить не стал потому, что артикль там просто не нужен.

Well, one day, after lessons in the university I met one guy in the "Puzata Hata" - cafe with traditional ukrainian food. And he couldn't understand the cashier - how much money he needed to pay. So I helped him and we were seating together and speaking about everything. He was pleasantly surprised, that most of us study English at school.
But, to be honest, sometimes I felt some language barrier between us - some words I couldn't understand and he explained them to me. It was a little shame on me. :lol:

it's not that interesting. there are lots of tourists in my ciry all the year round. sure enough some of them bump into me in the streets from time to time. mostly they ask directions to some place of attraction or another. sometimes it is just a come-on.)) while at the uni I also served as an entertainer and personal guide to some English-speaking people whom I escorted to the museums and acted as an interpreter.
