How many languages do you know?

So many people speak Korean. And I still have problems with English...
I am ashamed.

Is this language difficult? I mean grammar should be very different from Slavic and "west" languages. Other noun cases, other verb tenses.

No, Korean is very easy to learn: the structure is rather simple and logically determined. There are only 3 tenses (Past, Present and Future), the word order is strictly fixed. There are no such grammatical categories as person or gender... The language is agglutinative which makes it different from Russian, for instance: all morphemes are clear and easy to recognize. The origin of the Korean language is a great question, but it is definitely not Indo-European (the Indo-European family includes the Slavic languages, English, Irish, Hindi, Armenian, etc.).
They say that Korean is not much more difficult to learn than English. I think it could be even easier.

Панцербьорн, it was really interesting to read your intake on Korean language. So, have you ever had a chance to practice your language skills with native speakers?

Wow, Korean might be a blast to learn! To my mind, the pronunciation would be the hardest thing at mastering this language. I've watched a number of Korean doramas and I still can't properly hear everything they're saying.

Erinny, you mean, you watched Korean actors speaking English? I think I'm used to hearing pretty much att the accents now, you get used to it after a while.

However, if you were trying to watch dramas in Korean and were unable to hear what they're saying - that's a different level. :crazy:

Erinny, Japanese is easier? I don't think I've heard people Japanese a lot, I can never understand anything. Although I do know when the local sushi owner complains to his employees that I'm asking for an extra sauce while buying a small portion of sushi... The guy is so cheap.

Милое щекастое чудо, for sure! Japanese pronunciation is really easy for people, whose native language is Ukrainian or Russian. On the other hand, grammar is harder and kanji is a kind of torture.

Wow, you're so lucky to be able to eat authentic sushi. In your case, cooking is a waste of effort and time.

Erinny, I don't think cooking is ever a waste of time. Same as trying to learn a new language or perfect the one you know already. =))
